This pivotal Development Officer role is with a prominent social services nonprofit organization in California. The selected candidate will play a crucial role within a dedicated, supportive, and collaborative team environment. Responsibilities will include managing the complete fundraising lifecycle for a portfolio of over 100 major and leadership giving donors and prospects.
The focus will be on engaging donors within the Southern California area who have the capacity to contribute at the $5,000+ level, including significant five-figure donations. The Development Officer will be tasked with crafting fundraising strategies and employing effective methodologies for donor cultivation and solicitation.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee moves management for a portfolio of 100+ major gift donors and prospects capable of contributing $5,000 or more.
- Collaborate with the Development team to establish fundraising objectives, strategies, and plans.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with prospects and donors; develop and execute successful solicitation strategies.
- Conduct research to identify and qualify new prospects for major gift contributions.
- Reconnect with previous donors to explore new fundraising opportunities.
- Provide detailed reporting on donor engagement and fundraising initiatives.
- Travel as necessary for donor meetings and events.
- 3-5+ years of relevant experience in development.
- A Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
- Proven success in securing major gifts of $5,000 or more; experience with multi-year gifts is advantageous.
- Strong commitment to supporting individuals in California requiring various services.
- Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Willingness to travel for donor meetings and events.
