Key Responsibilities
  • Control the entry and exit of colleagues and visitors to the unit, ensuring a secure environment at all times.
  • Monitor cameras and alert colleagues of potential safety issues, providing a visible deterrence to prohibited activities.
  • Report any conditions that might constitute a security or safety risk to all staff, ensuring a safe environment for everyone.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment, reporting unsafe conditions and intervening in difficult situations to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, employees, and physicians.
  • Provide excellent communication and customer service skills, responding to questions and providing direction to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Prioritize stat orders and immediate needs, processing orders accurately and maintaining accurate paper records.
  • Manage large amounts of sensitive and confidential information concerning patient and family information in medical documents.
  • Participate in QI activities, maintaining logs, statistical records, and data collection, and act as a preceptor as needed.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED required; associates or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' security officer, law enforcement, or military experience required.
  • One-year secretarial or comparable clerical experience strongly preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of job placement required.
  • Successful completion of Safety First Training within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter required.
