Job Title: Community Engagement Coordinator

Salary Range: $38,000 - $43,000

Position Overview:
The Community Engagement Coordinator will serve as a vital link between the public and legal professionals, effectively managing inquiries, concerns, and complaints. This role is essential in ensuring that the public is well-informed about the office's functions, authority, and grievance procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage incoming communications from the public regarding legal professional concerns or complaints.
  • Evaluate public inquiries to ascertain the need for assistance.
  • Categorize complaints into grievances, fee disputes, or other relevant issues, and take appropriate action.
  • Refer calls to external agencies or organizations when necessary.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to propose resolutions for complaints or concerns.
  • Address written and electronic inquiries that may include questions, concerns, or potential grievances.
  • Assist lawyers in connecting with appropriate staff for clarification on professional conduct rules or office operations.
  • Respond to additional inquiries as required.
  • Maintain accurate records in the Legal Support Services database.
  • Facilitate clear communication between clients and legal professionals.
  • Provide information regarding legal resources and other pertinent organizations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma is required; experience in a legal setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is necessary.
  • Bilingual abilities in Spanish are advantageous.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Standard working hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, including a one-hour lunch break.
  • Potential for a hybrid work schedule following the completion of training.
  • Occasional overtime may be required, compensated either financially or with time off.
  • Minimal travel is expected.
