Job Summary

Expeditors International is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Contracts Attorney to join our global legal team. As a key member of our Transactions practice group, you will play a critical role in advising our internal clients on complex legal matters, including commercial transactions and privacy issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Negotiation and Drafting: Assist in negotiating and drafting complex commercial service contracts, confidentiality agreements, and other commercial documents.
  • Legal Advisory: Provide expert legal advice on commercial transactions, privacy matters, and other related issues to internal clients across multiple geographies.
  • Bankruptcy and Secured Credit: Provide routine support on bankruptcy matters, secured credit issues, and other general legal questions from various business teams globally.
  • Contract Review and Management: Review and manage complex commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • A law degree and a professional license/authorization to practice law in Mexico and/or another jurisdiction within the Americas region, in good standing.
  • Fluency in both English and in Spanish is required. Nearly all written communications are conducted in English. Professional level competency in Portuguese is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in the freight forwarding and logistics industry (preferred but not required).
  • Strong experience in commercial and privacy law.
  • Contract drafting and negotiation experience.
  • The ability to identify, analyze, assess, and communicate legal risks to enable internal clients to make quality, risk-adjusted business decisions.
  • Impeccable integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness and an appropriate initiative and work ethic.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization abilities.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent judgment and common sense.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team.
