Job Summary:

The Supervisor Transportation will oversee the transportation department, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of waste and materials. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and manage inventory supplies to ensure adequate stock levels.
  • Manage route scheduling to ensure all scheduled customers are serviced on time.
  • Conduct driver debriefs and ensure accurate documentation of customer transactions.
  • Monitor customer service metrics and implement improvements as needed.
  • Manage open order reports and customer interaction records to resolve service issues.
  • Monitor department work productivity and recommend changes to improve efficiency.
  • Review payroll hours to ensure overtime is necessary and employees are working efficiently.
  • Manage route vehicles, containers, and equipment.
  • Select, train, and develop an effective and efficient staff.
  • Establish and communicate performance standards and objectives.
  • Recommend salary adjustments, promotions, transfers, and dismissals.
  • Coach employees on educational and job opportunities.
  • Perform ride-a-longs to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Conduct spot checks to reinforce proper behavior.
  • Administer company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure employees are performing their functions safely and productively.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and oversee maintenance of Driver Qualification Files, DOT Log Files, and Vehicle Condition Reports.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of experience driving with a CDL B license.
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience using an integrated fleet, driver, and compliance management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Experience with JJ Keller software.
  • Experience in the hazardous waste industry.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines.
  • Ability to use a computer to communicate, create, and access information.
