Role Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in delivering essential patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians and nursing staff, to support patients and their families across various age groups and health conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with personal hygiene needs, including bathing, grooming, and toileting.
- Monitor and document vital signs, patient intake, and other relevant health data, reporting any concerns to the supervising nurse.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including changing bed linens and ensuring room readiness.
- Support patients during mealtime, assisting those who require help with feeding and documenting their intake.
- Perform basic non-sterile treatments as directed by nursing staff, including the application of heat or cold therapy and changing of supplies.
- Respond to patient calls and requests, ensuring timely communication with nursing staff for needs beyond the CNA's scope.
- Educate patients and families about procedures and care plans, fostering understanding and compliance.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols, maintaining knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and privacy in all interactions and documentation.
The responsibilities outlined above are not exhaustive; additional duties may be assigned to support the hospital's objectives.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant training program.
- Current certification as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Illinois.
- Preferred experience of 3-6 months in a similar role.
- Understanding of universal precautions and age-specific care requirements.
