Job Overview

The Information Assurance Specialist will be responsible for the planning, coordination, integration, implementation, management, and maintenance of Information Assurance (IA) and Information Technology (IT) solutions in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) program. This role involves collaborating with system owners to prepare and sustain certification and accreditation documentation. Additionally, the specialist will coordinate with system owners, security control assessors, and the IT branch to ensure the security posture of the organization is compliant with current regulations and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Computer Network Defense-Service Provider (CNDSP).
  • Identify IA security requirements in operational procedures and maintain necessary data for system IA reporting.
  • Detect potential security breaches and take appropriate actions to report incidents.
  • Provide services related to Risk Management Framework, circuit/system accreditation, and certification policies.
  • Maintain security policies and standards across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with security protocols throughout the organization.
  • Participate in the development or modification of IA security program plans and requirements.
  • Assist in creating procedures to ensure system users understand their IA responsibilities prior to accessing DoD information systems.
  • Integrate IA requirements into the Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) for the system or DoD Component.
  • Collaborate with system owners to address IAVMs/ICVMs and manage plans of action and milestones (POA&Ms).

Qualifications:
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 Secret Clearance.
  • IAT Level II Certification (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience (5+ years with degree or 8+ years without).
  • Experience in Information Assurance functions and familiarity with RMF IT security controls and policies.
  • Proficient in Security Tools and Standards.
  • Understanding of network protocols and architectures.
  • Familiarity with common cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Experience with basic scripting or programming languages.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Tier 3 secret clearance or TS/SCI.
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment.
  • Experience with Knowledge Management or process creation.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for simplifying complex information.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • US Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Background Investigation Requirement: National Agency Check with Local Agency and Credit Checks (ANACI).
  • Selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • DOD Security Clearance is required (minimum Secret-Level).
  • A DOD Interim Security Clearance (minimum Secret-Level) is acceptable until full clearance is granted.

Physical Requirements:

This role may involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing. The position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Candidates must possess sufficient mobility to perform daily tasks efficiently, which may include lifting weights up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary.
