Respiratory Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our team in a Long-Term Post-Acute Care facility. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality respiratory care and therapy to patients recovering from acute illnesses, surgeries, or injuries, as well as those with chronic respiratory conditions requiring extended care.
About the RoleThis position requires proficiency in managing respiratory care for patients in a long-term care setting, including educating families on ventilator use, oxygen therapy, and home care management. You will work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
Responsibilities- Assess and monitor patients' respiratory status by checking vital signs and conducting pulmonary function tests.
- Administer prescribed medications and therapies, including oxygen therapy and nebulizer treatments.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Provide emergency medical interventions as needed, particularly in critical care situations.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, treatment options, and home care practices.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of treatments administered.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- An Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- A Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license, as required by state regulations.
- At least 2 years of experience in post-acute care or 4 years of experience in acute care.
- Proficiency in performing tracheostomy management, including suctioning, cleaning, and changing tracheostomy tubes.
$65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
