Radiologic Imaging Specialist

The Radiologic Technologist II, or Rad Tech II, plays a crucial role in Riverview Health's Imaging department. This position involves operating in two or more modalities, including MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Specials, Nuclear Medicine, and Mammography, to produce accurate Diagnostic examinations and possible Interventional procedures. The Rad Tech II performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and responsibility for designated areas or procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate with patients in a professional manner, explaining procedures and addressing questions or concerns.
- Position patients and accurately select anatomic and technical parameters.
- Implement radiation protection and safety protocols and standards.
- Prepare, perform, and assist physicians in special and advanced procedures.
- Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Ensure all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
- Submit high-quality images and documents to PACS, ensuring correct lead markers and patient data/history.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and film storage areas.
- Observe and report patients' general physical and mental condition for signs and symptoms indicative of change.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including covering clerical and administrative tasks.
Education Requirements
- Minimum: Graduate of an approved Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
Experience Requirements
- Minimum: Diagnostic radiology experience and competent in secondary modality.
- Preferred: Additional modality experience.
License/Certification Requirements
- State Issued License - Yes.
- CPR - Yes.
- ACLS - N/A.
- PALS - N/A.
- Type of Specialty Certification or other Licensure, if required: American Registry of Radiologic Technology.
