About the Position:

As a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor II, you will support the community by delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDTP). Your responsibilities will include delivering treatment programming services, conducting group and individual sessions, and implementing scheduled program curriculum.

This is a non-exempt position. Hourly wage: $24 - $26 (DOE)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions.
  • Effectively implement scheduled program curriculum, leading and participating in face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other therapeutic processes.
  • Engage participants daily, reinforce group rules and expectations for participation and completion.
  • Work directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate participants about supportive networks as they return to the community.
  • Review treatment plans, evaluate, and record treatment progress, and document visible changes in appearance, behavior, and demeanor of program participants.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential participant records, evaluating and documenting the progress of participants assigned to their groups.
  • Complete all delivery documentation requirements, summarizing participants' background, treatment plan, and recovery process outcomes.
  • Prepare accurate, concise, informative reports, records, and plans that are consistent with Amity standards and comply with applicable clinical and administrative rules.
  • Liaise with transition/reentry staff, plans, and prepares transitional documents as directed by CDCR for continued community program activities.
  • Work collaboratively with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS, and institution staff, supporting and collaborating with co-faculty, including but not limited to Supervisors, Directors, and Regional Directors.
  • Participate in monthly, block, cross-training, curriculum training, technical assistance training, or other training as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • A Master's Degree or above in a social service-related field, and Licensed by, or registered with, the Board of Behavioral Sciences; or Registered with an AOD certifying organization recognized by DHCS; OR
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a social service-related field and AOD certified; OR
  • An Associate's Degree in social service-related field, AOD certified, and six (6) months of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor; OR
  • AOD certified and one (1) to two (2) years of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor.
