Amity Foundation is a leading organization dedicated to providing innovative and effective substance abuse treatment programs. We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor I to join our team at our in-prison facilities.

About the Position

As a Substance Abuse Counselor I, you will play a critical role in delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services to participants in our Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDT). You will work closely with participants to develop and implement treatment plans, provide individual and group sessions, and facilitate a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions.
  • Effectively implement scheduled program curriculum and lead face-to-face group and individual meetings.
  • Engage participants daily, reinforce group rules and expectations for participation and completion.
  • Work directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate participants about supportive networks as they return to the community.
  • Review treatment plans, evaluate and record treatment progress, and maintain accurate and timely participant records.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor.
  • Current AOD Certification with an organization recognized by the DHCS or Registration with BBS or AOD certifying body, depending on education level.
  • Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse and appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical, and social effects of drug abuse.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
  • Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS (preferred).
