Position Overview:
As a Retail Sales Specialist, you will:
- Sell a variety of merchandise while providing expert knowledge in plant care, seasonal gardening schedules, and outdoor living products.
- Deliver exceptional customer service that anticipates and exceeds expectations.
- Uphold a policy of courtesy and service.
- Exhibit tact and good manners when assisting customers and colleagues.
- Respond promptly and friendly to customer inquiries.
- Offer guidance on the care of houseplants, perennials, annuals, and tropical plants.
- Stay informed about local gardening schedules and procedures, understanding the environmental needs for healthy plant growth.
- Ensure proper care, watering, and fertilization of merchandise.
- Possess knowledge of pesticides and herbicides for managing common plant diseases and pests.
- Have a general understanding of outdoor living products, including pool equipment, spas, fountains, and lawn care accessories.
- Advise customers on new or special order items that may interest them.
- Utilize manufacturers' catalogs for product information.
- Operate cash registers while adhering to established cash control procedures.
- Set up merchandise displays according to instructions.
- Maintain stock levels and cleanliness in sales and storage areas.
- Assist in inventory management and periodic stock counts.
- Ensure accurate pricing with appropriate documentation.
- Process various cash register operations in accordance with local directives.
- Work in outdoor or greenhouse settings, subject to varying weather conditions.
- Lift heavy items, up to 50 lbs, such as bags of soil and fertilizer.
- Follow fire safety and HAZMAT regulations, including wearing required safety attire.
- Independently perform duties within established procedures, seeking guidance for unusual issues.
- Complete other related tasks as assigned.
