Position Summary
The Room Attendant plays a crucial role in ensuring that guest accommodations are kept clean, inviting, and well-stocked. This position involves daily servicing of guest rooms in alignment with hotel protocols, managing the housekeeping cart with necessary supplies, and changing bed linens while adhering to safety and company standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent; prior experience in hospitality or a related field is advantageous.
- Attention to detail and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
- Ability to convey information clearly and assess situations to make quick decisions.
- Capable of working efficiently under pressure and maintaining composure in challenging situations.
- Strong listening skills to understand and address concerns raised by guests and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with guests and staff in a courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Adhere to attendance policies as outlined by Avantic Lodging Enterprises, with schedules varying based on hotel needs.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to grooming standards, including wearing the designated uniform and name tag.
- Follow all safety and operational guidelines to ensure efficient hotel management.
- Thoroughly clean and restock the designated number of guest rooms each shift.
- Prepare housekeeping carts with necessary supplies before starting cleaning duties.
- Remove all waste and used linens from guest accommodations.
- Ensure that hallways, public spaces, and storage areas are kept tidy and vacuumed.
- Prepare the cleaning cart for the next day's tasks.
- Clean guest rooms with the door closed unless otherwise requested by the guest.
- Report any missing items or maintenance issues to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager promptly.
- Handle lost and found items according to established procedures.
- Adhere to all instructions provided by the Housekeeping Manager.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Work Environment
The work environment is primarily indoors, providing protection from weather elements, though temperature variations may occur.
Physical Demands
This role requires physical activity, including:
- Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Frequent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.
- Utilizing finger dexterity for tasks such as cleaning and organizing.
- Ability to lift objects weighing between 20-50 lbs.
