Job Summary

The Patient Care Coordinator is the first impression when patients and guests arrive at InnovaCare Health facilities. They also assist patients by assessing, facilitating, planning, and advocating for health needs on an individual and ongoing basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome patients and visitors upon arrival to the clinic and manage the waiting room to ensure wait times are within 15 minutes of arrival.
  • Manage the front desk workflow and communicate with medical assistants.
  • Manage the provider's schedule daily.
  • Maintain accurate registration by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
  • Assist patients in problem-solving potential issues related to the healthcare system, financial or social barriers, and PCP changes if necessary.
  • Assist patients with intake processes, including scanning required documents.
  • Collect patients' financial payment responsibility, including co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles, or issue receipts.
  • Manage the cashier box or similar location, balance daily deposits, and prepare bank deposits according to company policies.
  • Process walk-in patients and visitors, including greeting, answering phone calls, and scheduling appointments per guidelines.
  • Answer phones and schedule appointments. May also assist the case manager with scheduling hospital follow-up.
  • Manage medical records, including maintaining, filing/scanning, and preparing for scheduling.
  • Ensure all correspondence is scanned and/or filed in a timely manner.
  • Process requests for medical records release and maintain appropriate logs.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Teamwork orientation.
  • Organized and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Expert in computer literacy in electronic health records.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Safe work practices in a clinic setting.
  • Able to follow through with delegated tasks.

Preferred qualifications include at least 2-3 years in a medical-related customer service role and bilingual in English/Spanish.
