The Registered Nurse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients, families, and staff. This role involves supervising nursing personnel, coordinating patient care, and implementing policies and procedures to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Judgment: Create a healthy work environment that supports evidence-based practice and research, and coordinates patient care through collaboration with inter-professional team members.
- Clinical Inquiry: Systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, and facilitate practice changes among nursing staff through quality and performance improvement initiatives.
- Caring Practices: Create a compassionate, supportive, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff, and assist in the coordination of patient care conferences and inter-professional rounds.
- Response to Diversity: Identify issues arising from individual differences and develop awareness of these issues in nursing staff, medical staff, and other healthcare providers.
- Advocacy and Moral Agency: Advocate on behalf of the nursing staff to represent the concerns of patients, families, and staff, and foster an ethical practice environment for professional practice and patient care.
- Facilitation of Learning: Monitor the learning needs of staff and patients/families, and assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities to enhance their knowledge and skills.
- Collaboration: Role model, teach, and mentor professional leadership and accountability for nursing's role within the inter-professional healthcare team.
- Systems Thinking: Recognize, respond, and provide follow-up to issues, concerns, and suggestions on behalf of patient population and staff, and allocate resources to optimize patient care, throughput, and services.
- Education: Associate's degree in Nursing
- Experience: 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Certification/License/Registration: Registered Nurse (RN) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
