**Job Summary**

The Floor Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of hard surface and carpeted areas within the Medstar facilities. This includes offices, patient rooms, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Perform preventative maintenance checks on all equipment prior to use.
  • Secure the work area and post proper safety notices for other users of the space.
  • Perform floor care, including routine mopping, buffing, and burnishing on hard surface floors and stairwells.
  • Perform vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting, and extracting carpets, stairwells, and upholstery.
  • Perform wall cleaning and dusting (high and low).
  • Perform routine restroom cleaning and office/classroom cleaning.
  • Maintain floor care equipment and perform terminal cleaning with the use of a UV machine in ORs, patient rooms, and public areas.

**Requirements:**

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of directly relevant job-related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
  • 1 year experience and/or successful completion of the DES Floor Tech training program required.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic addition and subtraction.
  • Ability to comply with basic oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of how to strip, wax, and burnish floors with minimal to no assistance.
  • Knowledge of operating various pieces of equipment necessary to effectively perform job functions.

**Compensation:** The hiring range for this position is $17.5 - $25.5.
