Occupational Therapist Role

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Excelin Health. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in implementing standards of care for occupational therapy services and adhering to all conditions outlined in the Service Agreement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluating patient's functional status involves assessing muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication skills, self-care ability, work capacity, and other relevant factors.
  • Conducting home environment assessments to identify hazards or barriers to independent living, and participating in developing a total plan of care.
  • For patients returning to work, performing work capacity evaluations and referring to specialized vocational training according to organization policy.
  • Developing treatment programs and establishing goals for improved function, communicating plans to referring physicians and other organization professionals.
  • Taught new skills or retraining patients in daily activities lost due to illness or injury, according to organization policy.
  • Fabricating splints and instructing patients in adaptive equipment use to improve function.
  • Training patients in prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
  • Instructing family/caregivers and organization healthcare personnel in patient treatment regimes when indicated and appropriate.
  • Supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants according to organization policy and state regulations.
  • When therapy is the only skilled service, instructing, supervising, and evaluating home health aide care every two weeks.
  • Participating in discharge planning for patients.
Effective Communication:
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records, clinical notes, and reporting changes in patient condition to physicians, submitting records according to organization policy.
  • Maintaining contact/communication with personnel involved in patient care to promote coordinated, efficient care.
  • Attending in-services, case conferences, and meetings as required by organization policy to ensure comprehensive plans of care.
  • Identifying patient and family/caregiver needs for other home health services and referring as appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Possessing a graduate degree from an occupational therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Registered with the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Two years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist.
  • Possessing and maintaining current CPR Certification.
  • Licensed driver with an automobile insured and in good working order.

The estimated annual salary for this position is $65,000-$75,000.
