The Senior Procurement Engineer acts as the technical link within the supply chain, collaborating closely with Research & Development, Advanced Manufacturing, Commercial Manufacturing, and Direct Procurement teams on all initiatives related to new product development and cutting-edge technology. This position is crucial for identifying, engaging early, and assessing the technical capabilities of suppliers involved in new product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Advanced Technology, R&D, and commercial teams to identify new contract manufacturers, component suppliers, materials, and services essential for new product development or indication expansion initiatives.
- Facilitate the execution of supplier business agreements (NDA/CDA, SOW, and development agreements) to safeguard company intellectual property, financial interests, and business essentials.
- Lead early supplier engagement feasibility assessments in conjunction with engineering and quality teams.
- Assist in Supplier Selection through technical and competitive analysis as necessary.
- Conduct preliminary assessments of supplier capabilities, capacities, costs, and business continuity.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with suppliers prior to commercialization to ensure successful product launches.
- Serve as the primary liaison for supply chain procurement between R&D and direct procurement teams.
- Support the establishment of commercial pricing agreements as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in R&D development within the Medical Device sector.
- Experience in Supplier Quality, including supplier audits and component qualifications, is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Stent and Catheter manufacturing processes and component design.
- General knowledge of FDA Regulations and ISO Guidelines regarding Design Control and Risk Management.
- Demonstrated accountability for results, with a focus on meeting and exceeding expectations.
- Strong skills in relationship building and supplier management/negotiation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and build partnerships to achieve shared goals.
- Excellent project and time management, planning, and task tracking skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, with robust critical thinking and data analysis capabilities.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required (less than 25%).
