About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Manager to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a Senior Cost Manager, you will be responsible for providing accurate and contemporary project cost information to the Project Controls Manager and/or client.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing accurate and contemporary project cost information to the Project Controls Manager and/or client
  • Supervising and leading a team of cost managers/engineers
  • Overseeing project cost inputs and outputs/deliverables, including accuracy, quality, and timeliness of the deliverables
  • Interfacing on a regular basis with project team, stakeholders, and client
  • Assisting in the rollout and implementation of client-approved cost management software and having input into developing the cost management processes to be utilized on the project
  • Monitoring project budgets for the multi-billion-dollar Capital Improvement Program at Los Angeles World Airports
  • Reviewing and analyzing subcontractor invoices, preparing job costing reports to allocate these expenditures against the appropriate WBS numbers
  • Ensuring that both commitments and expenditures follow the same allocation methodology
  • Performing cost-to-complete analysis for all cost elements within a project, taking into consideration staffing plans, contract commitments, and expenditures to date, change orders, and trends
  • Attending project meetings to provide Project Management with current financial information and trend logs regarding potential impacts to project budget or forecast
  • Providing progress reporting documents and briefing materials as required
  • Developing creative reporting tools to communicate complex project sequencing and/or progress assessments
  • Reviewing task orders for contractors and sub-consultants to ensure necessary budget and/or contract capacity exists
  • Analyzing change order values against current budget and preparing reconciliations to include in the current forecast at completion
  • Preparing change orders and backup documentation as may be necessary for compliance and governance purposes
  • Supporting the project team in review and negotiations with developer change proposals
  • Supporting the team with risk management
  • Performing project closeout resourcefully to ensure as Prolog data matters in LAWA's reporting needs
  • Preparing data to support documentation required journal vouchers for budget transfers
  • Having an appreciation for contractual interpretations and claim avoidance strategies
  • Supporting the Project team with additional tasks as required
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related field
  • 10- to 15-years' experience in direct support of an active construction project
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience managing and reporting the cost components of large-scale, complex projects, including developing and managing a progress reporting methodology for a complicated design effort
  • Experience with Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Maintain delivery methods is desirable
  • Experience with cost management for operation and maintenance is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated proficiency with a large-scale cost reporting system is required, experience with Prolog is highly desirable
  • Thorough familiarity with MS Office suite software - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Prolog is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical and complicated construction programs and the ability to communicate progress to both technical- and management-level personnel
  • Ability to work with others, a self-starter with results-driven focus
  • Major Capital Improvement Programs experience or multimillion-dollar construction project experience, at least two years airport development/aviation project experience
  • Must have strong cost management and estimating skills, as well as the communication skills necessary to interface with external engineering, architectural, and construction firms, suppliers, the management team, and other organizations within client organizations
  • Must be able to use A/E and CM cost and/or schedule information to evaluate project status
  • Must have experience in developing budgets, cash flows, and/or schedules
  • OSHA 10 hour preferred
  • Must be highly articulate, have a clear and analytical approach to problem-solving, and strong decision-making abilities. Must have excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of current industry-standard software, including cost management software and databases
  • Flexible to a potentially varying shift time
  • Korean speaker is preferred

Expected compensation range is between $130K-$150K annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
