Job Summary

Under the direction of the Preschool Director and in accordance with the mission, core values, general policies, goals and standards established by the YMCA of South Palm Beach County, the Preschool Teacher is responsible for implementing the Creative Curriculum with aspects of the Reggio Emilia curriculum philosophy and providing a nurturing, well-supervised and safe environment for the preschool children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the Creative Curriculum with aspects of the Reggio Emilia curriculum philosophy.
  • Provide a nurturing, well-supervised and safe environment for preschool children.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, child Development Director and other staff.
  • Lead a class successfully with the help of an assistant.
  • Plan lessons effectively to enhance readiness skills in various subject areas.
  • Responsible for the discipline of his/her class.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, associate's degree from an accredited college or university or a CDA.
  • 40-hour HRS course required to be started within 3 months of employment.
  • 10 in-service hours per year of continuing education courses.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to lead a class successfully.
  • Ability to plan lessons effectively.
