Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrician to join our team at George J Hayden Inc. as a Journeyman Electrician. As a key member of our electrical installation team, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and residential settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, test, and troubleshoot electrical wiring, fixtures, and control devices in customer locations, buildings, and structures.
  • Perform all types of wire terminations and troubleshoot electrical systems on commercial, industrial, or residential jobsites.
  • Demonstrate complete and thorough knowledge of all electrical materials and tools.
  • Analyze, interpret, and understand blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
  • Mentor apprentices and helpers, monitor work progress, and ensure accurate coding of timecards.
  • Collaborate with a crew of electricians or other jobsite tradespeople to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Ensure all materials, tools, and equipment are maintained in an orderly and safe working fashion.
  • Communicate with other employees, management, and customers in a professional manner.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Journeyperson certificate or 7 years equivalent work experience.
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Supervise assigned crew to complete projects accurately and thoroughly.
  • Working knowledge of the most current National Electric Code (NEC) and NFPA70E.
  • Proficiency in testing electrical systems or continuity of circuits using testing devices and meters.
  • Ability to properly identify wire colors and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Capable of operating two-handed tools, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers, etc.
  • Ability to follow instructions and commit to company values and professional standards.
Working Conditions
  • Jobsite visits may require lifting not to exceed 50 pounds, standing, bending, or reaching for extended periods.
  • Ability to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime, and nights as required.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers. Ability to frequently bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Ability to work outdoors or in restricted areas, such as switcher rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics.
  • Employee responsible to provide basic hand tools, including a tool belt and pouch, for use on jobsites.
  • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities.
  • Perform work at various heights, up to 60' from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, or other safe work areas.
Special Requirements
  • Ability to travel to jobsites locally, in-state, and out-of-state as business requires.
  • Evening and weekend work as needed.
  • Responsible for personal transportation to and from local and regional jobsites.
  • Always wear personal protective equipment on jobsites.
