Position Overview PMA Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to play a crucial role within our finance team at a dynamic project and program management organization. The Senior Accountant will oversee a range of financial responsibilities, including analyzing appropriate accounting practices for new or complex transactions, preparing journal entries, managing account reconciliations, supervising the accounts payable and expense reporting team, and handling fixed asset management. Additionally, this role provides an opportunity to gain insights into tax regulations and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) overhead rate analysis for government contracts. Support to the Senior Director of Accounting and Controller will also be part of the responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate monthly and year-end standard journal entries, including entries for unique transactions.
  • Conduct research on accounting treatments in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure precise financial reporting.
  • Analyze historical accounting data to ascertain original intentions and apply accounting expertise to rectify any identified discrepancies.
  • Perform account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of any reconciling items.
  • Manage fixed asset recognition and execute monthly depreciation calculations.
  • Oversee intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and eliminations.
  • Assist in data collection and analysis for various audits and governmental projects.
  • Ensure completion of regular business and tax filings.
  • Supervise the Accounts Payable and Business Expense team, including voucher creation, disbursements, and year-end 1099 reporting.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new accounting software and related processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in general accounting, particularly in accounts payable.
  • Strong understanding and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Capability to work independently while effectively prioritizing tasks.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Aptitude for managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a growing team.
  • Proficient in advanced computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office 365, with an emphasis on Excel.
Additional Requirements: Physical: Ability to stand or sit for extended periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally and spend prolonged hours in front of a computer screen. Cognitive: Strong problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; proficiency in computer and software applications; ability to read and interpret text in both digital and printed formats.
