Position Overview:


Under the guidance of the Department Manager, Radiology Director, MRI Team Leader, and/or the radiologist(s), the MRI Technologist is responsible for executing a range of procedures that necessitate independent judgment and initiative in the operation of MRI machinery to produce high-quality diagnostic images.

Additional departmental responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Educational Qualifications:

Mandatory:
A graduate of an ARRT accredited radiologic technology program or an equivalent educational pathway.

Certification:
Must maintain compliance with all continuing education requirements. ARRT (R) Certified or ARMRIT Certified is required.

Desirable:
N/A

Professional Experience:

Mandatory:
Experience in a medical or hospital clinical setting. Basic computer skills (1-2 years of work experience or relevant college coursework). Prior MRI experience or intensive on-the-job training in MRI is essential before assuming on-call duties.

Desirable:
Experience in a hospital or physician office environment.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

Mandatory:
ARRT or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance (ARMRIT) Certified, with adherence to all continuing education mandates. BLS certification must be completed prior to working in the unit/department and maintained thereafter.

Desirable:
ARRT (MR) Certified or ARMRIT Certified. CPR certification is preferred.

Departmental Role Summary:


Under the supervision of the Outpatient Imaging Director or the MRI Team Leader and/or the radiologist(s), the MRI Technologist performs a variety of procedures that require independent judgment and initiative in the use of MRI equipment to generate high-quality diagnostic images.

Familiarity with basic patient care and MRI examination procedures for patients requiring anesthesia or conscious sedation is essential. Knowledge of conventional MRI invasive procedures is also necessary. Additional departmental duties may be assigned as required.

The employee must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide comprehensive care appropriate to the age of the patients encountered in the MRI Department.


It is essential for the employee to exhibit the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver care suitable for the age of the patients served in their assigned unit.

The individual must possess an understanding of the principles of growth and development across the lifespan and have the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's condition, interpreting the necessary information to identify each patient's needs relative to their age-specific requirements and providing the appropriate care as outlined in the unit's policies and procedures.
