POSITION SUMMARY
The Culinary Specialist is responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious family-style meals for children and staff involved in the Head Start Program. Key responsibilities include:
- Main Duties:
- Preparing meals in accordance with the established menu and the number of individuals to be served, while adhering to program standards and guidelines.
- Securing written consent for any modifications to the menu from the Health and Nutrition Specialist.
- Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and storage areas.
- Engaging in Nutrition Workshops and training opportunities.
- Assisting with inventory management and documentation related to food supplies.
- Additional Duties:
- Carrying out other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant experience. Additional requirements include:
- LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- MATH SKILLS: Competence in basic arithmetic and financial calculations.
- REASONING SKILLS: Ability to interpret and follow instructions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must successfully complete pre-employment screenings and should be capable of operating kitchen equipment.
CERTIFICATIONS
It is preferred that candidates possess a valid driver's license and obtain Serve Safe Certification within six months of employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires standing, walking, lifting, and engaging in various physical activities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees may experience occasional exposure to heat and moderate noise levels in the kitchen setting.
