Zekelman Industries is seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our team at our facility in Blytheville, AR. As a key member of our environmental team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of our wastewater treatment systems and maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Wastewater Treatment System Operation: Ensure the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our wastewater treatment systems, including cleaning and calibrating pH instrumentation, maintaining chemical supplies, and operating the sludge filter press.
- Water Quality Monitoring: Monitor water meter readings throughout the facility and perform laboratory indicator testing of effluent waters to make process adjustments as needed.
- Chemical Management: Monitor chemical baths used in the manufacturing process and report any issues that may affect the wastewater treatment systems to management.
- Waste Management: Characterize and store solid wastes generated on-site, prepare waste for transportation off-site for disposal, and maintain empty container storage areas.
- Regulatory Compliance: Assist with inspections by local, state, and federal regulatory agencies and maintain permit required records of air pollution control equipment readings.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; a college degree is preferred.
- Experience: Familiarity with computers, including email, basic office equipment, and Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel.
- Licenses/Certifications: Class K Waste Water Treatment Operator Certification, Annual RCRA Hazardous Waste Training, Annual DOT Training, and Fork Lift Certification.
- Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively with the Environmental Manager, other plant managers/supervisors, maintenance personnel, and co-workers.
- Organizational: Must be well organized and able to multi-task, prioritize work tasks, and pay close attention to detail.
- Decision Making: Must act in a decisive manner, using good judgment, and be able to assess problems and situations, and anticipate needs and evaluate alternatives.
