Job Description

">

This position will perform custodian work, cleaning all areas of the facility by performing the following duties:

">
  • ">
  • Perform all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Custodial Department.">
  • Clean administrative offices, lobbies, cafeterias, lounges, corridors, elevators, and stairways in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner.">
  • Dust furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures, windows, doors, trim, and related furnishings; move furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous items as directed.">
  • Collect recyclable and non-recyclable waste and replace trash can liners.">
  • Periodically clean telephones using germicidal and cleaner disinfectants.">
  • Vacuum traffic areas and remove visible debris from carpets.">
  • Clean light switches, door handles, walls, tops of modular furniture, and blinds.">
  • Clean and/or polish tables, benches, and chairs.">
  • Remove cobwebs.">
  • Take trash to assigned areas.">
  • Secure job areas with safety signs.">
  • Lock and unlock doors and windows to offices and other rooms as necessary. Turn off lights when rooms are unoccupied.">
  • Maintain confidentiality according to policy.">
  • Report safety hazards to supervisors as appropriate.">
  • Follow safety procedures, including PPE and other safety requirements based on the job.">
  • Adhere to infection control practices, including hand-washing techniques.">
  • Perform work as directed.">
  • Cleaning carts must not be left unattended.">
  • Custodial closets must remain locked at all times.">
  • Keep hallways and pathways clear of carts, equipment, and tools.">
  • At the end of the shift, equipment must be left clean and ready to use, including cleaning materials.">

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have a high school diploma or GED and one to three months of related experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • You should be able to understand written and verbal instructions.">
  • You should be able to apply common sense understanding to follow instructions that were provided.">
  • You must be able to communicate and understand English.">

  • Bending 15-30 times during a 6.5-hour shift.">
  • Carrying 5-10 pounds while walking approximately 50% of the time.">
  • Kneeling 15-30 times.">
  • Lifting floor-to-waist 3-4 times.">
  • Pulling and pushing 3-5 times while carrying 15-20 pounds.">
  • Reaching overhead 3-5 times while carrying 0-1 pound.">
  • Sitting 2-3 times during the 6.5-hour shift.">
  • Standing 80% of the time while carrying 1-5 pounds.">
  • Twisting 10% of the time while carrying 1-5 pounds.">
  • Walking approximately 50% of the time while carrying 15-20 pounds.">
  • Grasping 75% of the time.">
