Position Summary:
The Senior Product Manager will spearhead strategic initiatives, foster innovation, and oversee profitability within designated product categories. This role demands collaboration across all functional areas, acting as the steward of the complete product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional problem-solving capabilities and possess strong communication skills, thriving in a dynamic, entrepreneurial setting. Successful candidates will leverage the ITW Business Model, emphasizing user-driven product development, 80/20 prioritization, and simplification strategies to ensure sustained growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer-Centric Innovation: Drive the execution of the new product development roadmap to seize critical market opportunities, championing the Customer-Centric Innovation stage gate process through cross-functional leadership. Oversee new product launches, including volume forecasting, user validation, integrated marketing strategies, and sales training.
- User Engagement: Cultivate a deep understanding of customer feedback through qualitative and quantitative market research to inform product strategy and development. Lead user segmentation efforts to ensure effective targeting and prioritization.
- Product Portfolio Strategy: Manage product portfolio strategies, including the optimization of the existing product mix and pricing to enhance financial performance. Collaborate on capacity planning with operations and engineering, ensuring product line maintenance through SKU rationalization.
- Financial Accountability: Assume ownership of the P&L for assigned product categories, delivering on key performance metrics by utilizing ITW's strategic tools and performance indicators.
- Market Insight: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of market dynamics, including customer trends and competitive actions, to drive market sizing initiatives and identify opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- 3-5 years of marketing experience, with 2-3 years in product management; experience in new product development and full product lifecycle management is preferred.
- Experience with durable goods is advantageous.
- Strong financial acumen for analyzing results and market opportunities.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
- Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time.
- Excellent team/project management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and perform under pressure.
- A natural curiosity, positivity, and creativity are essential.
Work Environment:
This role involves working in various settings, including home offices, job sites, and distributor locations, which may not be controlled by ITW.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this role, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms. The ability to lift 40 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods is necessary. This position requires approximately 20% travel and the capability to operate a motor vehicle.
