Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Service Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Company Store maintenance facility, managing a fleet of 350+ trucks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance operations, supervisory experience, and excellent customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance program, ensuring adequate working conditions and equipment with proper cost control.
  • Supervise and manage Service Department personnel, including technicians and service staff.
  • Determine service shift schedules, sequences, and assignments based on work priority, equipment quantity, and personnel skill.
  • Manage and monitor employees' work levels, appraise work performance, and provide developmental direction.
  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
  • Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist in correcting job-skill deficiencies.
  • Conduct or arrange employee training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
  • Actively participate in recruitment activities at relevant technical schools.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries, creating corrective action plans as needed.
  • Foster a collaborative service team with a shared vision on team building, employee development, and motivation.
  • Establish and maintain cost control guidelines to effectively manage the Profit & Loss statement.
Customer Satisfaction
  • Listen to and understand customer needs.
  • Establish performance standards to ensure quality products and services and achieve objectives.
  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors and customers, including dispute resolution, customer retention, and identification of new initiatives.
Administration
  • Perform administrative duties, including management of timely accounting of purchase orders, repair orders, warranty processing, parts inventory, computerized reports, and shop paperwork.
  • Produce computerized reports and process workshop documents.
  • Establish and maintain cost control guidelines to effectively manage the income statement.
  • Control tool and parts inventories, as well as the condition and maintenance of the workshop, to ensure adequate working conditions and positive cost control.
  • Manage quarterly inventory audits and adhere to timely inventory management activities, including the return of parts and carcasses (cores).
  • Analyze budget variances and implement corrective measures to avoid cost overruns.
  • Select external suppliers and negotiate rate agreements when required.
Requirements
  • 5 years of relevant experience in maintenance of commercial heavy- and medium-duty lease and rental equipment desired.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience, ideally managing a team of 5 or more employees.
  • Effective customer service skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong leadership, management, organization, communication, self-motivation, and adaptability skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Tableau.
  • Experience with general accounting practices, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, and financial reporting.
  • High attention to detail and highly organized and self-driven characteristics.
  • Ability to support multiple levels of professionals, including senior managers.
  • Ability to prioritize workload based on changing goals in a fast-paced environment.
