Position Summary

This role is essential in delivering exceptional front desk assistance to patients throughout their healthcare journey. Responsibilities include informing patients about their insurance options, facilitating accessible financing solutions, and ensuring a positive financial experience with Beaufort Jasper. The position will involve accurately updating and interpreting all patient insurance and financial information. Additionally, this role will assist patients in completing Medicaid eligibility forms, evaluating payments, monitoring patient accounts, and collecting payments for services rendered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Register new patients efficiently.
  • Conduct income verification for uninsured patients to determine eligibility for sliding fee scales.
  • Verify insurance for all patients to secure authorization before medical appointments and update the system with current benefits.
  • Gather necessary information for changes in primary care providers (PCP).
  • Make reminder calls for upcoming appointments.
  • Communicate with patients regarding their financial obligations (co-pays, deductibles, etc.) and insurance benefits prior to their appointments.
  • Ensure patients are informed and prepared regarding fees and payments expected during their visit.
  • Collect and update all relevant patient and insurance information to maintain current records.
  • Perform updates on income information.
  • Meet with patients to review and explain their insurance benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with effective verbal and written communication abilities are essential.
  • Prior experience in billing is advantageous.
  • Bilingual proficiency is required.
