Job Summary

The Middletown Public Schools is seeking a skilled Youth Development Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our 21st Century Community Learning Center (21 CCLC) program, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of our students.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and facilitate engaging academic enrichment and recreational activities that promote personalized student learning and positive youth development;
  • Record attendance and document snack service in accordance with state and federal regulations;
  • Provide support to students during programming and supervise students during all aspects of the program;
  • Manage behavior issues and promote positive behavior during all activities and transitions;
  • Develop restorative relationships with students that foster growth mindset and resilience;
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities offered by the 21 CCLC, MPS, and program partners;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Coordinator or School Principal.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Ability to motivate and engage students in learning activities;
  • Demonstrated classroom management and teambuilding skills;
  • Experience with project-based learning and STEAM, preferred;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with individuals, teams, and groups;
  • First Aid/CPR certification, preferred.

The Youth Development Counselor will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, collaborating with teachers, administrators, and community partners to provide high-quality support to students. The position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
