Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Victim Advocate to join our team at Lifelines Counseling Services. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about providing support to those who have experienced trauma. The position offers flexibility with remote work options while requiring presence in Mobile, AL.

Lifelines Counseling Services is a dedicated non-profit organization focused on aiding individuals who have faced traumatic experiences. Our mission is to deliver advocacy, support, and resources to assist survivors in their journey towards healing. As a Victim Advocate, you will play a crucial role in offering crisis intervention, emotional support, and advocacy services to individuals affected by various crimes, including but not limited to sexual assault and child abuse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly to crisis situations, providing immediate assistance and safety planning for survivors.
  • Accompany survivors during medical examinations, police interviews, court proceedings, and other necessary appointments.
  • Guide survivors through the complexities of the criminal justice system and help them access legal resources.
  • Offer emotional support and empowerment counseling tailored to the needs of survivors.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of survivors within legal and social service frameworks.
  • Collaborate with community organizations to ensure comprehensive support for survivors.
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop personalized service plans for each survivor.
  • Assist in creating and implementing programs aimed at preventing and addressing violence.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and case documentation.
  • Engage in ongoing training and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge in victim advocacy.
  • Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in victim services.
  • Provide resources and support to the families and loved ones of survivors.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure a cohesive response for survivors.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to provide crisis intervention and support to individuals in distress.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working effectively with diverse populations and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated empathy and compassion for trauma survivors.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Capability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Availability to work on-call during specified hours.
