Job Summary

The KMVU/KFBI Master Control Switcher position involves monitoring and delivering on-air broadcast signals, recording programs from satellite and fiber feeds, setting up automated playlists for programming and commercials, and ensuring compliance with transmitter and signal distribution standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the quality and accuracy of KMVU/KFBI air signals between programs and commercials.
  • Operate automation systems, video servers, satellite receivers, file-based content delivery systems, and related computer systems.
  • Acquire and prepare content for broadcast, including live sporting and other live events.
  • Log all discrepancies, maintain transmitter logs, and monitor multiple signals simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with Programming, Traffic, Engineering, Sales, and Production departments to ensure seamless broadcasting.
  • Maintain open communication with key staff members throughout shifts and assist all departments or individuals to promote quality broadcasting.
  • Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure stations are operated efficiently.

Requirements

  • Previous on-air television switching experience is preferred but not required.
  • Good understanding of broadcast signal standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Thorough understanding of computer operations, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Requires a cool head under pressure and a strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
