Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our Cardiology Clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Front Office Duties: Collect patient data, obtain medical history, and perform various clerical tasks to ensure seamless patient flow.
  • Back Office Duties: Assist with treatment procedures, prepare instruments for sterilization, and maintain a sanitary work area.
  • Customer Service: Provide quality service and ensure customer satisfaction by responding to patient inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medication, including Parenteral (IM, SQ, ID), Oral Drops, Eye Drops, and Oral via Seven Rights, and document clinical findings.
  • Patient Safety: Identify and report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors, and near misses in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Education: High School or GED Equivalent, Program Graduate, or 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Credentials: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuers within 30 days, and completion of the UNMH MA Safe Med Admin Course within 90 days.
  • Language: Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Heavy Work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.
  • Environmental Conditions: Exposure to chemicals, biohazardous materials, and limited access to the medical room.
