Position Overview
Objective of Your Role


The primary objective of this role is to facilitate transportation services effectively, adhering to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as directives from management, to ensure the highest quality of care for residents.

Authority Delegation

As a Patient Transport Specialist, you are entrusted with the necessary authority and accountability to perform your designated responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties


Administrative Responsibilities

- Safely transport and transfer residents.
- Collaborate with medical staff to coordinate transportation for residents to medical appointments.
- Immediately report any mechanical issues with the transportation vehicle to the maintenance department.
- Utilize protective gear when handling hazardous materials.
- Ensure emergency equipment is functional and accessible.
- Recommend necessary supplies and equipment for the transportation vehicle.
- Efficiently use supplies to minimize waste.


- Assist in preparing vehicles for scheduled appointments and activities.


Support Functions

- Assist nursing and maintenance departments as required.
- Participate in the development and evaluation of quality assurance activities.


- Contribute to the Quality Assurance program to ensure effective supply management and staff training.


- Ensure compliance with material safety data sheet (MSDS) requirements.


Personnel Development

- Engage in ongoing education and training programs.
- Attend approved workshops and seminars.


- Participate in annual training sessions on safety and compliance.


Adhere to all confidentiality regulations.


Safety Protocols

- Follow established safety guidelines when handling equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of equipment.
- Report all incidents to your supervisor promptly.
- Ensure work areas are free from hazards and properly organized.


Comply with infection control policies when delivering supplies.


Work Environment

- Operate within designated areas of the facility.
- Interact with a variety of stakeholders including residents and staff.
- Participate in continuous education initiatives.


Communicate effectively with nursing staff and other departments.


Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- CPR certification (training provided).
- Dependable, friendly, and possess excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of resident care practices appropriate for varying age groups.
- Successful completion of a background check is mandatory.


Experience


- Familiarity with vehicle operation and navigation.
- Experience with skilled nursing residents preferred (on-the-job training available).


Specific Requirements


- Proficient in English.
- Ability to make independent decisions as needed.
- Knowledge of supply management practices.
- Capability to minimize waste and misuse of resources.


Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.


Physical Requirements

- Must be able to move throughout the workday.
