About the Job

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our US team in Shelton, CT. The ideal candidate will oversee our financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. This role plays a critical part in driving our financial success by providing strategic financial insights and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage the financial reporting process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to establish financial goals.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgets, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage working capital effectively.
Cost Accounting & Analysis:
  • Oversee cost accounting processes, ensuring accurate tracking of production costs and inventory valuation.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making related to pricing, product development, and capital investments.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives across the organization.
Compliance & Audits:
  • Ensure compliance with all financial and tax regulations, including GAAP, IRS, and state regulations.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Manage risk on insurance, tax payments, credit policies
Team Leadership:
  • Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support overall business objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA preferred, but not necessary).
  • CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 2 years in a management role.
  • Finance & Accounting all-rounder
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP (IFRS is a plus), cost accounting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus, preferably within the battery or technology sector.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal with team, peers and upper management
