Job Summary

A Steward is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and dining areas. This includes ensuring the proper storage and handling of food and equipment, as well as assisting the kitchen staff with cleaning and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the availability of clean dishes and equipment by washing and sanitizing them regularly.
  • Prepare dining areas and kitchen for next shift by cleaning and restocking.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, including coffee makers, pots, pans, and mixers.
  • Unload and store deliveries, and sweep and mop floors as needed.
  • Take out the trash and rinse garbage cans.
  • Support other restaurant staff members by assisting with other tasks as needed.
  • Report kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
