Job Overview

Major Tool & Machine is seeking experienced machinists to join our team in a custom machining environment. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, maintainability of materials, and layout techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Manage projects from cradle to grave, ensuring timely completion and quality of work.
  • Machining Operations: Set up and operate CNC machines and machining centers, monitoring and adjusting machine controls as needed.
  • Tool Maintenance: Properly maintain and upkeep of mills, lathes, and other equipment.
  • Quality Control: Verify that all machined details meet print or router specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • Communication: Collaborate with engineers, production personnel, programmers, and other employees to resolve machining or assembly problems.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of four years of trade school, vocational education, or apprenticeship.
  • Specialized experience with particular materials, products, precision level, machining process, or size, type, or trade name of machine.
  • A minimum of three to five years of CNC machining experience.
  • High Speed machining (16-27k RPM).
  • Part and tool probing.
  • General machining knowledge, shop math, precision measuring instruments, blueprint reading, and GD&T knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Siemens 840D Control software a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A positive attitude and ability to work under pressure.
  • Self-starter with ability to multitask.
  • Good work ethic and attendance.
  • Effective communication skills with peers, engineers, and supervision.
