Role Responsibilities & Requirements

Schedule: Full-time, 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. with on-call responsibilities – 3 shifts of 12 hours.

Position Summary: The Surgical Technician exhibits foundational knowledge and competencies in the scrub role, essential for providing support during surgical operations. Responsibilities include maintaining aseptic techniques, preparing necessary equipment, instruments, and sterile supplies for assigned cases; scrubbing in and passing instruments during procedures; managing case preparations and breakdowns; and organizing the operating room and supplies for the current and following day’s schedule. Availability for on-call duties as required by unit needs is essential. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.

Job Duties

The Surgical Technician is tasked with:

  • Ensuring aseptic techniques are upheld.
  • Preparing and managing required equipment and sterile supplies for surgical cases.
  • Scrubbing in and passing instruments during surgical procedures.
  • Handling case preparations and breakdowns efficiently.
  • Setting up the operating room and ensuring all supplies are ready for scheduled procedures.
  • Being available for on-call duties as per unit requirements.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor when necessary.

Onboarding Process: Candidates must successfully complete a background check and a pre-employment health screening, which includes a drug test.

Qualifications:

Required: Completion of a surgical technician program as mandated by state regulations.

Preferred: One year of experience in the surgical technician role.

Certifications:

  • Required: BLS Certification
  • Preferred: Surgical Technology Certification
