Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the Controls and Actuation department. Responsibilities
  • Develop technical solutions for moving element challenges, including aerodynamic steering, thrust vectoring, and attitude-and-divert maneuvering.
  • Apply sound mechanical engineering principles to solve complex system problems while teaming with a cross-discipline team.
  • Conduct requirements development and comprehension, concept development, trade study evaluation, free-body diagram generation, first-order structural and thermal analysis, gear analysis, material assessment and selection, 3D modeling support, datum selection and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerance, tolerance analysis, margin analysis, support of drawing development, support of manufacturing process and build tooling development, support of test process and test equipment development, and participation in design reviews.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Lead a team of engineers in the development of technical solutions and ensure adherence to cost and schedule commitments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior mechanical engineering experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years' experience.
  • Experience with development of different actuation drive systems, including power management, motor and/or gear train sizing and implementation, and associated bearing configurations for optimization of friction and position accuracy.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • Preferred qualifications include 12 years of experience with Systems or Mechanical Engineering of servo controls, experience with development of CAS requirements, CAS architecture, requirements risk, requirements verification and validation, system performance & function, safety and environmental compliance, and experience with feedback control systems, including sizing, testing and integration, design-for-manufacturing, kinematic and dynamic simulation and analysis.
