Work Hours: 8 Hour Shift (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM)
Overview:
The Environmental Services Technician is accountable for the routine cleaning and sanitization of patient rooms and associated areas within the unit. This role adheres to established cleaning protocols in alignment with infection control and safety standards. The technician embodies the mission, vision, and values of Rush and operates in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
- Perform thorough sanitization of patient room surfaces and bathrooms.
- Conduct discharge cleaning for patient rooms.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and report any maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Collect waste from patient areas and common spaces.
- Assist in managing emergency spills as needed.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
Qualifications:
- Ability to comprehend and follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience operating cleaning machinery such as vacuums and floor scrubbers is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 months to 1 year of experience in environmental services within a healthcare setting is advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
Physical Requirements:
- Capability to operate heavy cleaning equipment and remain on feet for the majority of the workday.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and reaching as part of daily responsibilities.
