Position Overview

The Clinical Dietitian plays a crucial role in providing nutritional care and guidance to patients across various age groups, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition or a related field.
  • Registered with the American Dietetic Association after completing an internship or an accredited graduate program.
  • Licensure from the Arkansas Dietetics Licensing Board is preferred.

Skills and Experience:

Strong communication skills are essential. Previous experience in clinical nutrition is advantageous. Basic computer proficiency is necessary.


Knowledge Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of fundamental nutrition principles, clinical nutrition practices, and relevant JCAHO and State Health regulations. Familiarity with quality improvement techniques as per JCAHO standards is required. The candidate should also be well-versed in current literature for patient education and be able to make informed decisions regarding its application.


Safety Considerations:

This position is classified as Safety Sensitive. To ensure the health and safety of all patients and staff, Unity Health mandates that any individual involved in the use of medical marijuana, even with a valid medical marijuana card, will not be eligible for employment in this role.


Responsibilities:

The Clinical Dietitian collaborates with the management dietitian to develop patient menus and address any issues related to food service. The role requires flexibility in work pace to accommodate varying demands and is subject to frequent interruptions from nursing staff, dietetics associates, physicians, and other healthcare personnel.


Physical and Mental Requirements:

Maintaining good physical health is important, as the job involves walking, standing, and occasionally lifting items weighing up to five pounds. Additionally, the role demands a considerable amount of mental focus and concentration, which may fluctuate daily.
