Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Care Associate to join our Med-Surg team at Unity Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of our RNs and LPNs.

Responsibilities
  • Implement components of the plan of care through the initiation/completion of procedures relating to basic human, mental, spiritual, and social needs; comfort and safety measures; activities of daily living; personal care needs; nutrition and fluid needs; and elimination needs.
  • Perform indirect patient care duties, including cleaning occupied and unoccupied patient areas and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Assist with lifting and moving patients, pushing carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment; and lifting or pushing of up to 50 pounds.
  • Interpret environmental input, requiring visual and auditory skills, and perform tasks that require bending, standing, and walking.
  • Support the organization's mission, vision, and values by providing excellent patient care and adhering to infection control and safety guidelines.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read, use simple math skills, and write clearly and legibly.
  • Previous experience as a nursing assistant or in other patient-related position desirable but not required.
Physical Demands

The position requires a considerable amount of physical work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. The individual must be able to maneuver throughout the halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies.
