About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious Conductor Trainee to join our team at BNSF Railway. As a Conductor Trainee, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of freight across our vast network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the safe switching of railcars and train movement
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management through various communication devices
  • Monitor and report daily work activities
  • Operate track switches and derails to change train routing within yards or on road
  • Inspect cars per federal regulations and observe track conditions
Working Conditions
  • Work in extreme all-weather conditions
  • Walk and perform work on uneven surfaces
  • Work in a safety-sensitive environment with loud noise and fumes
  • Work on and around heavy and moving machinery
Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Ability to report for duty at the designated work location
  • Able to work safely in extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work the required shift/hours
  • Able to meet the travel requirements
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds
  • Ability to see, learn, and interpret hand signals from near and far
Training and Development
  • Company-paid on-the-job and classroom training for up to 19 weeks
  • May include travel to BNSF's Training Center in Overland Park, KS
