The Acute Care Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist plays a crucial role in delivering healthcare services by aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This position involves performing CT examinations and related techniques, generating images for interpretation by licensed practitioners. The technologist operates a CT scanner to capture images essential for diagnosing and treating various medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts CT scans and procedures for various hospital departments, including NICU, CCU, and ED, as requested by medical personnel.
- Assists radiologists and other healthcare professionals during imaging procedures.
- Handles ancillary tasks to ensure proper distribution, billing, and archiving of imaging studies.
- Maintains accurate documentation for interpretation, reporting, and retrieval of imaging studies.
- Retrieves orders and relevant health information to facilitate timely performance and reporting of imaging studies.
- Engages in the monitoring and enhancement of quality indicators as outlined in the strategic plan.
- Operates independently in a complex, acute care environment.
- Provides training and support to colleagues.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduation from a CAHEA accredited Radiology program or equivalent.
- ARRT certification as a Radiologic Technologist (R.T.(R)) with an advanced registry in CT (R.T.(CT)).
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
- A minimum of two years of experience in radiology as a registered technologist.
Preferred:
- One year of prior CT experience in a trauma center (level I or II).

- Effectively manages responsibilities in a high-pressure environment.

- Willingness to work varied shifts and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, and pull weights up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to work extended hours, including sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily.
- Flexibility to work beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
- On-call availability may be required to address organizational and patient needs promptly.
- Effective communication skills, both in person and through various technologies.
- Ability to handle challenging situations with upset individuals, utilizing de-escalation techniques.
- Capacity to perform repetitive tasks as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
