Reports to: Operations Dean, Director of Nutrition Services

Employment Type: Full-Time, 10-Month Hourly, Non-Exempt

Role Summary:
The Food Service Supervisor will oversee the culinary operations within designated schools. This role encompasses managerial duties related to planning and supervising all food service functions. The Supervisor will enforce standards to ensure quality control and the efficient operation of the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program. Additionally, the Supervisor will train and guide the food service staff in compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
Management:

  • Direct and manage food service associates to ensure daily tasks are completed in accordance with USDA/DPI regulations.
  • Facilitate staff performance by setting clear expectations and evaluating outcomes.
  • Address any staff issues or compliance concerns with the appropriate management.
Planning and Meal Preparation:
  • Forecast and procure necessary food and supplies following established purchasing protocols.
  • Ensure adherence to approved food preparation methods, including portion control and presentation.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new food products and preparation techniques.
  • Ensure meal service lines are prepared and organized for designated service times.
  • Assist students in making healthy meal choices.
  • Gather feedback from students and parents regarding food quality and menu options.
  • Communicate any food allergy concerns to the appropriate management.
Record Keeping:
  • Ensure compliance with procedures for meal counts, production records, and safety logs.
  • Train staff on accurate record-keeping and reporting.
  • Maintain records using computerized systems for meal counts and inventory management.
Food Safety:
  • Implement food safety standards in accordance with USDA and state regulations.
  • Oversee cleaning schedules and daily sanitation inspections.
  • Maintain organized storage areas for food supplies.
  • Train staff on health and safety standards.
  • Complete all required training as necessary.
Qualifications:
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.
  • Must possess stamina for prolonged periods of standing.
  • Must be free from communicable diseases.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Commitment to the mission of Seton Catholic Schools.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience in supervisory roles within food service is preferred.
  • Food Manager Certification or willingness to obtain certification within three months of hire.
  • Knowledge of food service operations and safety standards.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with staff and students.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills.
