A prominent food manufacturing organization is seeking a dedicated Production Operations Lead to oversee and manage the activities of personnel engaged in operating various machinery for product manufacturing and packaging within its state-of-the-art facility.

The Production Operations Lead will be responsible for coordinating and organizing weekly production timelines, finalizing employee schedules, guiding staff in routine machinery inspections, and collaborating with various departments to ensure that client deadlines are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities of the Production Operations Lead:

  • Develops weekly production plans in collaboration with the Materials Management team, adhering to master scheduling and inventory guidelines for each Stock Keeping Unit (SKU).
  • Creates weekly staffing schedules aligned with production needs.
  • Ensures compliance with job safety analysis by all team members, conducts accident investigations, and implements corrective measures.
  • Works alongside colleagues to guarantee timely fulfillment of customer commitments.
  • Conducts inspections and measurements of products to confirm adherence to specifications, training staff to identify non-compliant products to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Guides team members in adjusting machinery, equipment, and operational processes to meet product specifications.
  • Proposes, recommends, and executes improvements in working conditions and equipment usage to enhance production techniques, equipment efficiency, employee performance, and product quality.
  • Addresses employee concerns or escalates unresolved issues to the Human Resources department.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace.
  • Prepares justifications for capital equipment investments aimed at enhancing quality, reducing costs, and improving cycle times.
  • Keeps accurate records of time and production metrics.
  • Documents inefficiencies and downtime to identify problems, collaborating with others to resolve them promptly.
  • Ensures that all tasks are completed in accordance with quality assurance standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety protocols, and relevant regulations.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications for the Production Operations Lead:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing within the food production sector, particularly in baked goods or similarly regulated environments.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret production schedules, safety protocols, operational and maintenance guidelines, and procedural documentation. Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence, and capable of effectively communicating with groups of employees or colleagues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; familiarity with inventory management and manufacturing software is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Conversational proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
  • LEAN/Six Sigma certifications are beneficial but not mandatory.
