We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Exceptional Student Education Teacher to join our team at Henry County Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with exceptional needs, developing and implementing individualized education programs, and collaborating with general education teachers and related services staff to maximize student achievement.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Planning and Delivery
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized education programs (IEPs) and individual learning plans (ILPs) for students on the caseload.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work with parents/guardians in all aspects of their child's educational program.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related services staff to provide special education services that maximize student achievement.
- Assessment and Data Analysis
- Utilize formative and summative assessments to collect data on student achievement and progress toward mastery of IEP goals and objectives.
- Report progress to parents/guardians on a regular basis.
- Professional Development and Compliance
- Participate in district, school, department, and parent meetings.
- Adhere to district special education policies and procedures and federal regulations/state rules.
- Education and Certification
- Hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator Certificate.
- Skills and Abilities
- Ability to maintain highly confidential information professionally.
- Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
- Physical Demands
- Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
- Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced educational environment, interacting with students, parents, staff, and the community. The ability to maintain a professional demeanor and work well under pressure is essential.
