Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Physician with expertise in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) to conduct independent medical assessments for veterans. This role involves reviewing medical records, performing comprehensive evaluations, and completing specific Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) to aid the VA's determination of disability claims.

This position requires strong analytical and documentation skills, as well as the ability to work independently and manage time effectively. The ideal candidate is motivated, detail-oriented, and proficient in digital documentation, focused on delivering objective and compassionate assessments.

The schedule for this role is flexible, with options for working 1 day per month or 2 half days every other week. The guaranteed daily rate for this position is $1,200-$1,400.

Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze veterans' medical records through a secure web portal.
  • Conduct comprehensive, non-treating assessments of veterans to document current health conditions.
  • Complete and submit DBQs based on VA-specific templates to capture all relevant medical findings.
  • Ensure that all DBQs are thorough, accurate, and submitted within 24 hours of the assessment.
  • Assess up to four veterans daily.
Requirements
  • Active MD or DO license with a specialization in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R).
  • Board certification in Neurological Surgery, PM&R, or Psychiatry and Neurology is preferred; candidates with a completed two-year residency in a relevant specialty will also be considered.
  • Strong typing skills and attention to detail are essential.
