Northwell Health is seeking a skilled Computed Tomography Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for operating Computed Tomography equipment, preparing patients for examinations, and ensuring accurate information is obtained for physician diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities- Operate Computed Tomography equipment to obtain high-quality images for physician diagnosis.
- Prepare patients for examinations, explaining procedures in a clear and concise manner to alleviate pre-testing anxiety.
- Administer oral contrast material for abdominal scans and ensure patient safety during procedures.
- Set up equipment to administer procedures and ensure patient screening is conducted according to protocol.
- Perform CT procedures, including abdominal, thoracic, neuro exams, extremities, sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy treatment planning, biopsies, and more.
- Key in patient history data and other pertinent information obtained from requisitions, including anatomical area of interest, slice thickness, and pulse sequences.
- Calculate the number of scans required based on patient size and operate equipment to ensure required images are obtained as ordered by the Radiologist.
- Contact Radiologists to review and ascertain whether additional scanning is required.
- Transmit cases to internal and external Nighthawk services for interpretation and final reads.
- Operate equipment for the transfer of computed images to film and/or PACS system.
- Assist with administration of I.V contrast and monitor patient condition during examinations.
- Recognize and report changes in patient condition or motor abnormality complaints to physicians.
- Operate Radiology Information System (RIS) to ensure procedures are ordered correctly and information is accurate.
- Complete all necessary steps in PACS to allow Radiologists to review and read procedures.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
- New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
- New York State certification in IV Contrast Administration within six months of position entry date.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Registered Technologist (R.T.(R)(ARRT)) certification.
- ARRT registration in Computed Tomography (R.T.(R)(CT)(ARRT)) within eighteen months of position entry date.
- Prior experience as a Radiology Technologist.
- CT experience preferred.
$43.51-$57.71/hour
