PUSD serves approximately 2,300 students and consists of three elementary schools, one middle school, one traditional high school, and one alternative high school.

Key Responsibilities- Assist with instructional and non-instructional duties related to the classroom educational program under general supervision from the elementary grade level teachers.
- Monitor and assist students individually, and in small groups on math, reading, writing, science, etc.
- Set-up and help with instructional exercises and special projects.
- Help supervise students during recess and lunch.
- Listen and provide support and encouragement in an effort to promote positive behavior and independence.
- Administer minor first aid.
- Gather, prepare, and organize learning materials (copying, supplies, manipulatives, etc.).
- Set-up bulletin boards and displays of student work.
- Assemble student books for classroom display.
- Work with parent helpers to assist students on special projects.
- Assist with grading, recording, and distributing papers; check-in homework and papers returned.
- Administer make-up quizzes and tests to students who were absent.
- Prepare and collate communications and papers to send home.
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher.
- High school diploma or the equivalent, and two years of college (48 units), or an Associate's degree (or higher).
- Verification of COVID-19 vaccination status.
The ideal candidate will be able to work in a classroom environment with constant interruptions, and will have the physical abilities to perform the duties of the role, including hearing and speaking to exchange information, adequate vision to read and prepare documents, and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
